Shimane

Shimane Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the Chūgoku region on the main island of Honshu. The capital is the city of Matsue.
Area is 2,589 sq mi. The population is 712,000.
The prefecture has an area elongated from east to west facing the Chūgoku Mountain Range on the south side and to the Sea of Japan on the north side. The Oki Islands in the Sea of Japan are also part of Shimane Prefecture. The capital city Matsue sits between Lake Shinji and Nakaumi, along the banks of the Ohashi river connecting the two.
Tsuwano is a town located in south of Shimane Prefecture. Popularly it is called the "Little Kyoto of San-In,"
